You better believe it, there’s now another new version of Wordle.
The super-popular online word game went viral in January, in part thanks to players sharing its results grid on Twitter.
It’s called Lewdle, so you can probably deduce what kind of words it wants you to guess.
Still, here’s everything you need to know about it.
What is Lewdle?
Lewdle is basically Wordle – but the words are of the dirty kind.
It was created by screenwriter and former PC Gamer magazine editor-in-chief Gary Whitta, producer Leah Whitta, and games developer Adam Nickerson.
Much like the original, it gives you six chances to work out a five-letter word by using a grid system.
It’s also a one-a-day game, and is free to play on your internet browser (rather than an app).
Unlike the original, the game is played against a black background, presumably because it’s a slightly ‘darker’ version of an otherwise wholesome, straightforward game.
You can share your Lewdle result on Twitter, with a grid pattern revealing how you got to the answer.
Though depending on who follows you, there’s a chance you won’t want to allude to the fact you’ve been playing it at all.
But while there are indeed dirty words (some that you may not even know the meaning of, judging by Twitter’s reaction), the creators have strictly avoided including offensive ones.
On Twitter, Gary wrote: ‘Another quick note about Lewdle. While we have a very robust dictionary of naughty words that we’re constantly adding to, we don’t include slurs.
‘So words like b*tch, wh*re, etc are out. We wan the game to be dirty without actually being offensive to anyone. Peace.’
