Minecraft YouTuber and streamer Dream sent his fans into a spiral after finally revealing his face a few days before TwitchCon at the weekend. Dream, or simply ‘Clay’, had been playing Minecraft for eight years wearing a mask, before he decided to show his real face to his followers and start sharing more about himself.
The face reveal divided the online community, as some fans were a bit underwhelmed with his boy-next-door looks, while others found them charming.
Now, xQc, who’s one of Twitch’s most popular streamers, has decided to continue the controversy, claiming that some of Dream’s fans fainted when they got a glimpse of him in person.
He started off by saying that there was a large number of fans chilling around one of the lounges at the San Diego venue, waiting for Dream and probably other creators to make an appearance.
Then, xQc left the lounge and after he came back a few hours later he decided to ask one of the security guards what was going on with the big crowd.
‘He says that whenever Dream came out of the room, just because he is passing by, he says that eight people fainted by just looking at him from long range,’ xQc said during his stream.
xQc also said that the security guard told him their radios were ‘popping off’ and the situation quickly became a ‘concern’ that they had to deal with.
During the same stream, xQc also revealed he had an uncomfortable encounter at a TwitchCon 2022 afterparty, when an ‘unhinged’ woman wouldn’t stop touching him inappropriately.
Other popular streamers were also with him, including Hasan and Valkyrae, when this happened, though they’ve not spoken about the incident yet.
xQc claims that he told the woman he wasn’t interested multiple times, but it didn’t stop her from being too touchy. Eventually xQc escaped the frenzied fan with the help of fellow creator Ludwig and managed to make his way back to his accommodation.
Besides fans apparently fainting due to Dream’s good looks, there were also reports of others fainting from exhaustion and having panic attacks after waiting for hours to get into Dream SMP’s panel.
The room that the panel was held in was too small for the crowd, and it became apparent that TwitchCon organisers hadn’t anticipated such high interest from fans.
From xQc’s description, it’s not entirely clear whether the two incidents are related, but this year’s TwitchCon hasn’t been controversy free, either way.
Multiple fans and creators got injured in the notorious foam pit, including adult movie star-turned-streamer Adriana Chechik breaking her back in ‘two places’ and LochVaness dislocating her knee after jumping in.
On top of that, Dream also suffered injuries and bruises on his face and shoulders, after he fell off his bed while sleeping. Though it seems like his punished look might have added to his charm for some.
