It’s certainly one way to deliver patch notes (pic: CD Projekt)
CD Projekt has shared details for Cyberpunk 2077’s next major patch and has dressed them up in the style of a news report.
Rather than simply list them out, the company has tried to add some character to the whole thing by dressing the patch notes up like a news report, accompanied by short video demonstrations of the new updates.
The first update concerns the police, specifically how they currently appear instantly once you commit a crime. The patch will change it so, while the police will still show up, they’ll appear in a more natural fashion, giving you time to either prepare for a gunfight or hightail it.
The second is the inclusion of driving sensitivity options. This should hopefully make driving a more fluid experience, with the in-universe explanation being that the city council passed a bill forcing all vehicle manufacturers to update their steering firmware.
On the subject of driving, it’s possible for you to accidentally get your vehicle completely stuck on certain terrain. The third update will fix that issue by adding a feature that lets you rock your vehicle back and forth, so you don’t have to abandon your ride of choice.
The last big change will address a problem some players have been facing where they will dodge without meaning to. This one breaks the immersion slightly, as one of CD Projekt’s programmers straight up explains what this update does.
Basically, dodging normally requires you to double-tap a movement key (when using a keyboard on PC), but the update lets you turn it off, with dodging instead performed by double-tapping the Crouch action key.
This patch was meant to have already been released by now, but CD Projekt was forced to delay it as a result of the hacking incident which occurred in February. With any luck, it should be out by the end of March.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are still planned for release by the end of the year.
