But the Japan international only managed to make 28 appearances in three years for the Magpies.
But the forward was shipped out on loan last season, spending his time in Spain playing for Eibar.
Muto didn’t have the best of loan spells in Spain, managing to find the net just three times across all competitions.
In a short statement released by Newcastle, the club wished the 29-year-old – who was on £54,000-a-week – well for the future.
It read: “Japan international forward Yoshinori Muto has left Newcastle United by mutual consent.
“The club and player have come to an agreement on the final year of his contract, with the 29-year-old making ten starts in all competitions following his 2018 move from Mainz 05.
