RIO FERDINAND has heaped praise on Chelsea’s Mason Mount, describing him as a ‘mad player’ who the Blues can always rely on.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed his most prolific season at Stamford Bridge so far, scoring 10 and assisting 13 in all competitions already.

The England international was one of a few who came in for criticism following a disappointing 3-1 loss at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League last week.
However, the 23-year-old struck twice at the weekend against Southampton, setting him clear as Chelsea’s top scorer in the league.
He said: “Mount is a mad player. On and off the ball, that’s what I love about him. He gives you both sides of the game.”
While this season his output has taken a step up, his work rate has been a feature which has defined him throughout his career.
The former Manchester United and England defender believes this may contribute to his frequent game time not just for club, but for country as well.
Ferdinand said: “Young players watching the game, if you watch Mount, he’s efficient with it, and he can bang, but it’s the work ethic and the positions he takes up defensively.
“That’s why he’ll always play for England because I think you can rely on him.”
Mount is among the Chelsea stars looking to pull off a miracle in Madrid tonight, as they look to overturn a two-goal deficit in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Karim Benzema’s hat-trick saw Real Madrid pick up a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge, leaving the Blues in a precarious position against the beast they vanquished in the semi-finals last season.
The England international scored in a 2-0 second leg win against Los Blancos last year, and Chelsea will need at least the same result tonight to keep the tie alive.
