Bale’s £600,000-a-week deal at Real Madrid is set to expire at the end of the season.
Should Wales beat Scotland or Ukraine and qualify for this winter’s World Cup, the 32-year-old will be desperate to stay in pristine condition ahead of the tournament.
He could move to the Championship in order to rediscover home comforts and stay ready for action.
Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman said last week that his side would be “willing listeners” should Bale want to join.
And boss Steve Morison, who played alongside Bale for the Welsh national team between 2010 and 2012, has confirmed that he’d be interested in signing him.
The 38-year-old told Wales Online: “Who wouldn’t be? Is there anyone who wouldn’t be a willing listener?!
“I’m not going to go and get Gareth Bale’s number and ring him and say, ‘Oh, by the way, do you want to come and join Cardiff?’
“It’s an absolute no-brainer. It would be great. It would be a great boost for everybody.
“But if it did happen, he would have to come and be part of the change. He would have to come and fit in and buy into it.
“I’m sure if anything like that was going to happen then me and him would have a chat because there would be a lot to talk about.
“One of them would be making sure [the press] don’t find out about it!”
Bale spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.
He netted 16 goals in 34 appearances, despite spending a lot of time out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
The forward has hardly played since returning to Madrid, making just seven outings and scoring once during an injury-plagued campaign this time around.
