Arteta’s side had their chances, but a combination of wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping from Saints’ Fraser Forster daw them draw a blank.
Balogun uploaded a clip to Twitter showing him scoring a superb goal for the youth team.
The American-born striker didn’t even make the bench for Arsenal in their cup clash on the south coast.
Eddie Nketiah was handed the central striking role and didn look bright without scoring.
Alexandre Lacazette came on as a second half substitute, but failed to impact the game.

And although negotiations seem to have stuttered, manager Mikel Arteta is still understood to hope the frontman stays.
The Gunners reportedly rejected a bid from Sheffield United last summer.
And Balogun is said to have turned down a £5million switch to Championship side Brentford in January.
