But disaster very nearly struck during the street party after brunette Nuri was knocked off balance as the open-top bus manoeuvred past a tree.
Arnau Martinez, one of the Catalan side’s goalscorers against Tenerife, was one of the stars who rushed to her aid.
Chilling footage shows Nuri, the club’s official photographer, dangling perilously in mid-air, being held by her left ankle and right wrist by Martinez and team-mates Ramon Terrats and Gabri.
Quick-thinking police, aware she was in grave danger, rushed to the back of the bus to try to cushion her fall should she have plunged to the tarmac below as other vehicles closed in.
Fortunately the heroic footballers were able to hold onto her and pull her back on board unharmed.
Incredibly, Nuri refused to drop her camera during the entire ordeal.
And she joked about the horrifying experience on her Instagram soon after, saying: “Whatever happens, don’t let go of your camera.”
Girona are back in LaLiga three seasons after relegation from Spain’s top-flight.
Local Pau Villafane, who also posted footage of the incident, joked: “Arnau Martinez. From Tenerife’s killer to the photographer’s saviour.”
The club sealed promotion with a weekend 3-1 away victory against Tenerife, despite finishing sixth in the second tier.
They beat third-placed Eibar in the play-off semi-finals to book their historic date with Tenerife.
As well as its leading football club, the city is also celebrating the promotion of Girona’s basketball team to Spain’s top-tier Liga ACB after a superb 2021-22 season for locals.
