The Celtic Warrior, who is an avid fan of the Reds and makes no secret of that fact, lost a bet to City star Kyle Walker on Wednesday evening and had to swap his shirt for the rival club’s after losing his match at Manchester’s AO Arena.
He started the drama himself earlier in the day, paying a visit to the Etihad and ripping into the defender with some scathing putdowns in a video shared by WWE on Twitter.
‘I know everybody in Manchester’s devastated I didn’t pick Manchester United or Manchester City, but that’s just the way it is. I always go with the greatest club in history, Liverpool Football Club,’ he smirked
‘But I am here at the Etihad Stadium for the third time! That’s right! Listen, as a WWE superstar you have to take the good with the bad, especially with appearances. Now, I’ll be honest with ya – this is an amazing stadium.
‘Pep has built an incredible house here with all the trophies they’ve won. Obviously I feel like it’s going to be Liverpool’s year again, but you know what? That’s what’s great about football.
‘Either way, there is one thing I can’t stand. One particular person that really grinds my gears, and that’s Kyle Walker. I can’t stand that bleeding muppet. And of course, I’m here at Manchester City – and where’s Kyle, huh?
‘He’s run away! He’s run away, you know why? Because he doesn’t have the stones to look me in the eye! True is, man, I’ve come to take over Kyle – and there’s nothing you can do about it.’
A few hours later, Sheamus was at the arena preparing to team up with WALTER against Finn Balor and Cesaro when Walker popped up on the big screen and laid down a wager that if the Irishman lost, he’d have to wear a City shirt with the defender’s number on the back.
That’s exactly what happened, but Sheamus tried to weasel his way out of it before Cesaro, who he knows all too well from their time together as The Bar, came back down.
He dropped his former tag team partner, hit the giant swing before dumping the City shirt on the dizzy star.
To put the icing on the cake, Walker then reappeared on the big screen, laughing at Sheamus as the City fans in attendance roared their approval.
