The sign set on fire (Picture: WWE)
WWE fans had to be evacuated from their seats when the giant WrestleMania sign set on fire during the Royal Rumble show.
During the third match of the night – which saw Becky Lynch retain her Raw Women’s Championship against Doudrop – some fans in St. Louis appeared distraction, and it turns out there was a good reason for that.
According to various reports, the WrestleMania sign the Rumble winners point to after their respective victorious caught fire due to pyrotechnics let off after Ronda Rousey’s shock win.
It meant the sign had to be lowered and so people sat underneath the giant prop had to be moved out of the way to ensure their safety.
Big Time Becks played up to the drama, saying she and the sign were both ‘straight fire’, and the two superstars managed to get the crowd back into their match despite the incident.
In an impressive move by the crew on site, they managed to lower the sign, fix the issue and raise it again all during the one bout.
The show got underway with Roman Reigns holding onto the Universal Title by the skin of his teeth as he got disqualified for not releasing the guillotine, meaning Seth Rollins got the win but not the gold.
The Tribal Chief would later make his presence felt in the WWE Championship bout between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, as he shockingly reunite with Paul Heyman to screw the Beast.
Lesnar would then go onto enter and win the Men’s Royal Rumble, and it’s assumed he’ll be going onto WrestleMania to face his longtime rival.
Elsewhere, the Women’s Rumble also saw a big shock as Ronda Rousey entered and won, setting up a main event match against either Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair.
The bout itself featured plenty of surprises, including Right to Censor’s Ivory, Mighty Molly, Cameron, Sarah Logan and more.
The men’s match had fewer surprises in just Bad Bunny, Shane McMahon and a returning Drew McIntyre, although Johnny Knoxville was on form.
