WWE and Adnan Virk have parted ways just weeks after he joined the Raw commentary team.
The broadcaster made his first appearance on the red brand on the night after WrestleMania last month alongside Corey Graves and Byron Saxton as part of a reshuffle that saw Samoa Joe leave the company, and Pat McAfee join SmackDown.
In a brief statement, the company said: ‘WWE and Adnan Virk have mutually agreed to part ways. WWE thanks Adnan for his work.’ No reason has been given for the departure.
In April the wrestling juggernaut revealed Adnan would be leading its new-look commentary team, and Tom Philips and Samoa Joe were removed.
He had previously covered college football and baseball for ESPN and made his debut on April 12.
The MLB Network host said at the time: ‘I’m elated to be joining the premier sports-entertainment company in my new role with WWE.
‘As a kid who grew up idolizing WWE Hall of Famers like Bret Hart and Ric Flair, the opportunity to call modern legends like Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Charlotte Flair and so many others alongside Corey Graves and Byron Saxton is truly humbling.’
Analyst Bryon Saxton retained his spot on the red brand while SmackDown’s Corey Graves boarded Raw’s announce team.
Tom Phillips shifted his focus to hosting 205 Live and overseeing ‘special projects for WWE’s programming on Peacock’. Additionally he continued his role as Senior Manager, On Air Talent.
The Samoan Submission Machine meanwhile could be headed for a return to action inside the squared circle after a long spell out due to injury.
