Who’s behind the mask? (Picture: ITV)
One particularly intriguing contestant this year is Sausage, the fun-loving star who clearly doesn’t take herself too seriously, and who ‘battered’ fellow contestant Badger in a sing-off earlier in the series.
But what do we know so far? And, more importantly, who’s behind the mask?
What clues have been given about Sausage?
Sausage made her entrance as she cavorted on a beach (which looked very much like Brighton Pier) to the sound of Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj’s Bang Bang.
She standing on a board emblazoned with phrases from classic TV and radio comedies, including: ‘Language Timothy!’ (a a running gag from the sitcom Sorry!’) and ‘You dirty old man!’ (Steptoe and Hancock) – so Sausage could have starred in a similar series.
Sausage was seen going up to a burger van, titled Billie’s Burgers, with references to pop songs, including ‘Because We Want To’ (Billie Piper’s hit) and ‘All About That Plaice’ (presumably a play on Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass), so we’re guessing she’s also had a hit song.
She also described herself as ‘a bit of a tomboy, but I really am a girly girl.’
‘I love a bit of glam, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun and, to be honest, I’m a bit of a silly sausage,’ she added. ‘I just want to have a laugh.’
Meanwhile, after singing, she added: ‘My performances are something of a balancing act,’ prompting fans to guess that she’s an all-rounder.
We’re not sure how much to read into this, but Sausage also made a last-minute costume change ahead of her second performance – could it be another hint?
Sausage previously said she loves a bit of DIY and said she can be found with: ‘A couple of beers and a bag of potato snacks,’ presumably referencing Two Points Of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
She also gave clues after her performance – only one of which is actually true – including ‘My hair colour is certified by law’ and ‘Someone once said I looked like a pop star, I sounded like a pop star – I am a pop star’.
Ahead of Sausage’s third performance, she offered the hint that someone had ‘once said they look like a horse’.
The singer added that they ‘enjoy’ hiding their face behind their mask, although it’s not the first time their face has been concealed in their line of work.
Singing Lisa Stansfield’s All Around The World, Sausage performed with a newspaper wrapping with a headline that reads: ‘Sausage Rolls On… Just!’ A clue that Sausage is well-travelled?
Who could Sausage be?
Stacey Solomon is a popular guess (Picture: Getty Images)
The panel were convinced the mystery celeb is a young female singer – and were taken with the idea that she’s an all-rounder.
One guess was Billie Piper, given her history as a singer and actress, and the multiple references to her – although it’s unlikely the show would have made it so obvious.
Stacey Solomon is another popular guess, with the Loose Women panel admitting they think it could be her too.
Rita also guessed Ella Henderson, pointing out that she’s a tomboy, so could definitely fit with the clues.
Meanwhile, newer predictions include Sheridan Smith, especially after Sausage appeared to reference Legally Blonde, which she starred in the musical adaptation of.
Other guesses from fans include Michelle Keegan, singer Louisa, Emily Atack, and Joss Stone.
Only time will tell!
The Masked Singer continues Saturday at 7pm on ITV.

The Masked Singer series 2: Who is behind each mask?
With the nation more or less confined to their living rooms every Saturday night, The Masked Singer has proven to be something of a lockdown 3.0 saviour.
While the performances are of course a draw, most of the fun lies in guessing just who is behind each mask.
Here are the clues and theories so far:
