Glenn Hoddle is a major football icon, now working as a pundit after a successful career as a player and then a coach.
He first signed to Tottenham Hotspur at the age of 12 as an apprentice, before making his debut on the first team in 1975, at the age of 17.
Since then he has gone on to play for England, making his debut competing against Bulgaria in the Euro 80 in December 1979.
In 1990, he became a coach, starting off at Swindon Town, and in 1993 he became a player-manager at Chelsea.
Retiring from playing football in 1995, he became England’s manager in 1996.
During his time as manager, Hoddle caused controversy by dropping Paul Gascoigne from the 1998 World Cup squad, with the team eliminated from the competition in the second round over penalties against Argentina.

The Football Association terminated his contract in 1999 following a controversial interview in which it appeared he spoke out against people with disabilities.
Hoddle has continued to fiercely deny it, and has continued to be a fundraiser for disability charities ever since.
He has since managed Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, before retiring.
He now works as a football pundit for BT Sport.
Has Glenn Hoddle previously had a music career?
Yes! Glenn actually released a relatively successful single back in 1987, even making it on to Top Of The Pops at the time.
The song, Diamond Lights, was a duet with Chris Waddle, his fellow Spurs and England teammate.
Releasing the song under band name ‘Glenn and Chris’, they severely missed the opportunity to call themselves ‘Hoddle and Waddle’ but nevertheless, landed in the UK Top 20, peaking at number 12.
Unfortunately, its follow-up It’s Goodbye, effectively ended their short career, coming in at number 92.
The Masked Singer continues Saturdays at 7pm on ITV.
