Earlier this year, it was reported that after Giuliani was identified on stage, judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke walked off the stage in protest, while Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger remained on-stage and ‘bantered’ with the former mayor of New York City.
The unexpected and controversial turn of events unfolded in the most recent episode of the singing competition, as he emerged as the singer behind the character Jack in the Box.
Nick Cannon, who hosts the show, turned to Giuliani and said: ‘It surprises us all that you’re here on The Masked Singer,’ while Thicke remarked: ‘This is definitely something I never would have guessed’.
Jeong crossed his arms as soon as Giuliani’s mask came off, as the audience gasped in utter shock.
While the previous report claimed that both Jeong and Thicke left the stage ‘in protest’, in the broadcast, only Jeong’s departure was shown, with The Hangover star walking away quietly.

Scherzinger was initially befuddled over Giuliani’s identity, asking if he was Robert Duvall due to a previous guess made by Thicke.
In Jeong’s absence, McCarthy and Scherzinger were shown dancing enthusiastically to the politician’s performance of George Thorogood & the Destroyers’ song Bad To The Bone.

McCarthy also expressed her gratitude towards Giuliani for him appearing on the programme, saying she was ‘so glad’ he competed, which he is said to have done for his granddaughter.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the lawyer had been subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot, alongside the legal team that filed lawsuits with conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 presidential election.

On January 6 2021, the former New York mayor stood before an audience of Trump supporters and called for ‘trial by combat’, before crowds stormed the Capitol in an attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the election of President Joe Biden.
Several Masked Singer viewers were astonished Giuliani was brought onto the show, with one sharing a picture of Jeong’s reaction while tweeting: ‘Ken Jeong did not smile once when Rudy Giuliani was unmasked. Can’t believe they put Rudy on the show.’
‘My heart does go out to @kenjeong. I know how you feel. This show should’ve never cast Rudy Giuliani. This is supposed to be a positive show, not a negative show,’ someone else wrote.
Another person stated incredulously: ‘I wanna know who actually sat and thought .. oh let’s get Rudy Giuliani!! Like what? Why? …. NO!’
‘It was just unbearable watching the reveal of Rudy Giuliani as Jack in the Box. Robin Thicke and Dr. Ken’s disappointment spoke volumes,’ someone else said.
The Masked Singer airs on Fox in the US.
