THE Drowning viewers have pointed out major plot holes – as Daniel is convinced he’s Jodie’s dead son Tom.
Viewers have been gripped by Channel 5’s four-part drama, which sees Jill Halfpenny play a grieving mother who believes her son is alive.
Jodie is convinced Daniel is actually Tom
However, while many were stunned by the twists and turns in The Drowning, fans were able to notice a few plot holes.
Viewers were confused when Jodie set off to collect some DNA from Daniel, who she was convinced is her son Tom.
Tom was thought to have drowned in a lake the day he went missing.
In order to get to Daniel, Jodie waited for Daniel to play a football game and put a brick through the office of his dad Mark Tanner – taking him away from the pitch.
During the game, Daniel falls to the floor and the opposition kicks him in the face, causing him to bleed.
She offers to take him and cleans the wound in the bathroom, but when he goes to bed Jodie doesn’t leave with the bloody tissues – instead stealing a toothbrush.
Fans were confused, with one person saying: “OK so she nicks his toothbrush for DNA even though the kid has just had a nose bleed – ffs why?”
Another added: “Bit far fetched she gets a job in a school just like that, goes back to a pupils house good grief just use the bloody tissue get a DNA test and be done”
A third remarked: “Why did she take his toothbrush…she’s got a car full of bloody tissues with his DNA all over it”
Fans also noticed that Jodie planned to take Daniel and other boys off to a recording studio on a school trip – without parental permission or the headmaster’s permission.
One said: “Safeguarding issues? But we’ve got a recording studio booked! Get them kids to Abbey Road – bugger the procedures – these kids could be the next Blazin Squad!”
A second added: “So not only had she not got parental consent for the recoding studio she hadn’t ran her school trip by the headmaster either all bull ffs.”
The explosive episode ended with Daniel asking his dad about his mum – with Mark refusing to give him an answer.
Mark screamed at Daniel when he asked about his mum
After screaming at him, Daniel ran away from home to Jodie’s home, where he discovered Tom’s old bedroom.
At the end of the episode, Daniel turned to Jodie and said: “I’m Tom aren’t I?”
Fans loved the episode on the whole, with one person saying: “#TheDrowning so far has been brilliant, another cracking episode again tonight, can’t wait for tomorrow’s”
Another added: “@halfpennyjill you are fantastic in this show – can’t believe I have to wait 24 hours in between each show! Love it!”
A third remarked: “Love a good thriller! Isn’t it nice to have something to look forward to during low times! Countdown for part 3..”
