The Bachelor 2021 had a completely different look as Matt James’ season swapped the West Coast for the East coast.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, filming had to take place in a safe and secure location with plenty of room, and producers picked the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania.
The resort might look familiar to some eagle-eyed fans because it featured in The Bachelorette season 12.
JoJo Fletcher stayed in the property’s Chateau Lafayette Presidential Suite and held her rose ceremony in the Chateau Lafayette Lobby!
So here’s what else we know about the location chosen for The Bachelor’s 25th season.
Where was The Bachelor filmed?
Matt James’ season takes place at Nemacolin in Farmington, Pennsylvania, just 70 miles south of Pittsburgh.
The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort opened to the public in 1970 under the Nemacolin Inn.
It was named for Chief Nemacolin, a Native American from Delaware who created a path through the Laurel Highlands Mountains in 1740.
There are five different sites: The Chateau, Falling Rock, The Homes, The Estates, and The Lodge.
Before Nemacolin opened to the public in 1970 as a resort, it operated as a private hunting lodge for two years, when it was owned by Willard F. Rockwell, a businessman from Pittsburgh.
This huge resort boasts a casino, numerous golf courses, a tea room, a cigar bar, a bowling alley, a climbing wall, art classes, an indoor lap pool, bike rentals, paintball, and an infinity pool.
There’s also a carousel, yoga, massages, bike rentals, an Auto Toy Store with rare and antique cars owned by the Hardy family, fishing, tennis courts, a zoo, mini golf, an arcade, a spa, and a whole lot more so there’s plenty of options for Matt’s dates.
How far was Matt James’ suite from contestants?
Matt James stayed within The Estates, in the Estate called Mystic Falls.
All 30 women vying for his love stayed at The Chateau, which is the main building of the resort.
‘Both properties are within relatively close proximity of one another on the grounds of the property,’ a spokesperson told US Weekly.
When the season premiered, fans were surprised to see that Matt was staying in Mystic Falls.
For all those who were fans of The CW series, The Vampire Diaries, the name immediately rang a bell because the show was set in ‘Mystic Falls, Virginia’.
The teen horror/romance series revolved around high school student Elena’s love triangle with two Vampire brothers and the lives of all her other supernatural friends.
As Matt greeted his ladies, viewers were thrilled at the idea he had been quarantining in ‘Mystic Falls’.
They immediataly flocked to Twitter to make jokes about the reality star being a vampire like Stefan and Damon Salvatore.
The Bachelor airs Mondays on ABC in the US, while it is available to stream on hayu in the UK.
