Sex Education season 4 will feature the programme’s first trans couple as the show revealed two new cast members are set to join the hit Netflix series.
The Netflix series’ third season came to the streaming service back in September, leaving plenty of unanswered questions which nicely paves the way for a season four.
Now, there’s more to get excited about as one of the show’s creators put out a casting call that confirmed two more additions to the gang as they move into their final stage of schooling.
The two newbies are called Abbi and Kent, with the document shedding a bit of light on what the characters will be like.
Abbi is described as a young trans woman with ‘a 90s Winona Ryder vibe’ and is sure to cause a stir as ‘the leader of the group’ with queen bee vibes.
But it seems this is for a reason, as the casting call also lists qualities of the Abbi to include ‘sunny, magnetic, generous and loyal.’

She also has a difficult relationship with her family – who kicked her out after she came out as trans – as well as her faith.
Elsewhere Kent is introduced as Abbi’s boyfriend, with the casting call labelling them the ‘ultimate power couple.’
The pair have been together for a while and are a couple loved by all, however, Kent prefers to step back a bit more than his girlfriend, whilst remaining ‘quietly confident’ about his final year at college.
It comes after season three gave us the show’s non-binary character in the form of Cal Bowman (Dua Saleh).
The casting call also gave us some insight as to when we might expect season four back on Netflix.
The shoot will run in Wales between April and November 2022, meaning we should expect the programme sometime in late 2022 or early 2023.
Judging by the fact season one and two both landed in January of 2019 and 2020, it looks as though fans could be in for a New Year’s treat.
All the regular cast are expected to be back, after Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) and Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) finally confessed their feelings for one another.
Meanwhile, Adam Groff (Connor Swindells) and Eric Effiong’s (Ncuti Gatwa) relationship came to a heartbreaking end, whilst Isaac Goodwin (George Robinson) missed out on romance with Maeve.
The upcoming season will also give us insight into how sex therapist and ultimate cool mum Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson) is getting on with baby Joy, who she gave birth to in a very emotional finale.
Sex Education seasons 1-3 can be streamed on Netflix now.
