But the 33-year-old risks being out of action when the ITVBe series returns this summer.
We revealed last week The Only Way Is Essex is getting a tropical twist – with bosses flying the cast to the Dominican Republic for the next series.
Not everyone will be getting a seat on the plane however, with the cast for the next series of the hit ITVBE show yet to be formally decided.
And because of Gatsby’s on-going recovery, he could be left at home while he looks after himself.
The 33-year-old – who joined the ITVBe show in 2015 – says he faces two months of recovery after suffering from a hiatus hernia.
The reality star posted a snap from his hospital bed today after jetting back from LA to have treatment at The Holly Private Hospital in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
He’s now on a liquid diet after surgeons worked to repair his stomach in the complicated op.
Gatsby wrote: “I would have still been in LA but the reason I came home was to have surgery 🥲.
“I’ve been suffering with a hiatus hernia & acid reflux for a few years now but it got to the point where I couldn’t eat food & drink liquids at the same time without it coming back up.
“Imagine eating a meal & being thirsty and not being able to drink a glass of water with it or the food you’ve just eaten will come back up.
“Also, the burning taste of acid in your mouth most mornings.
“This surgery repairing my stomach & hiatal hernia will hopefully be life changing for me 🤞🏽.
“Not looking forward to the next 6 weeks on a liquid / soft food diet so any tips from people who have had this surgery it would be much appreciated x.”
It’s rare for those under 50 to suffer from a hiatus hernia.
The condition is caused when part of your stomach moves up into your chest.
It’s believed Gatsby will be in hospital for up to three days before being discharged.
A Towie spokesman said cast names for the show are not yet confirmed.
A source said: “Towie is coming back with a bang – and the cast are off to the Dominican Republic.
“It’s been months in the planning and all the details were signed off today.
“It is the most flash trip they’ve ever done – but given they’ve spent the last two years on home soil the bosses wanted to give the stars – and the fans – a treat.
“The cast are going to be flown out at the start of June but not everyone is going to get a ticket.
“It is by far the most exotic trip they have ever done and the sandy white beaches of the Caribbean island will make a beautiful backdrop for any drama that unfolds.
“From Puerto Banús to Punta Cana, this is a Marbella glow up of epic proportions.
“Those lucky enough to get a place on the plane are in for a treat.”
Gatsby joined the popular TV series as Lydia Bright’s best friend, but remained as part of the main cast after her exit.
Fireworks will be flying when the cast finally come back together for this series.
Earlier this year The Sun revealed how Towie bosses were planning on flying their cast to the most exotic ever location after filming was delayed because of the pandemic.
