Simon had to take orders for his hotpot takeaway – called Better Than Betty’s – and catapult the correct ingredients over to former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin.
The Challenge was seriously messy, with chopped liver and peas being among the items flung across the room, but viewers loved the touching nod to late soap star Betty.
Betty played Rovers Return Inn barmaid Betty Williams from 1969 until her death from pneumonia in 2011.
And during her 40-year reign behind the bar, she was the queen of the hotpot and was always serving them up to punters.
Simon also seemed pretty chuffed with the game, laughing at the name: “Better than Betty’s!”
Standing alongside Louise, he added: “Nothing is ever going to compare to Betty’s.”
Unfortunately for Louise and Simon – who plays Steve McDonald in Coronation Street – they failed to win anything for camp after successfully completing the challenge.
The pair fell at the final hurdle, which as in all Castle Coin Challenge’s ends at Cledwyn’s Kiosk, and went back empty handed.
They could have won David Ginola and Adam Woodyatt’s letters from home and the news didn’t go down well.
