WWE legend Jeff Hardy has been thinking a lot about an in-ring reunion with his brother Matt.
The Charismatic Enigma – who was released from the company earlier this month – returned to the stage for a string of acoustic gigs with meet and greets shortly after his departure, and he had been giving some thought about his future in wrestling.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk a few weeks before his WWE exit, he said: ‘I totally think there is [a chance of a Hardy Boyz reunion]. That’s what’s exciting about it – just being honest, will it be in WWE or AEW?
‘I feel like there will be one more [run]. I don’t know that, but it’s like everything I’ve had visions of in wrestling, it’s always happened.’
The wrestling siblings stunned fans at WrestleMania 33 when they made their shock return to WWE, and Jeff was thrilled at the prospect of recapturing that magic.
‘It’s just exciting man, to think about reliving something like WrestleMania 33 and coming back after all the chaotic stuff leading up to that night,’ he smiled. ‘It was legendary, man. Nobody expected it.’
Jeff’s departure from WWE comes days after he was sent home from touring after appearing ‘sluggish’ during a match at a recent live event.
On December 2, he appeared at show show in Edinburg, Texas as he teamed with Drew McIntyre and King Xavier Woods to take on The Bloodline’s Roman Reigns and The Usos.
As reported by PWInsider and corroborated by Fightful at the time, Jeff tagged out of the match and ‘disappeared into the crowd’, where he was followed by security, and didn’t return.
It is said the star – who has been open about his addiction battles – refused WWE’s request to go to rehab.
Jeff’s brother Matt has since taken to his Twitch and explained while the company did make the request, his sibling didn’t feel like he needed treatment.
‘I don’t think he did either,’ he said. ‘Jeff is in the best place I’ve seen him in a very long time.
‘As far as the details of what went down on that evening, and in that match, I’ve talked with Jeff, I feel good about everything he said and that’s Jeff’s story to share. And he told me he will when he’s ready to.’
