Dancing On Ice: Joe Warren-Plant awkwardly falls on the ice on debut (Picture: Rex)
Emmerdale star Joe Warren-Plant made his Dancing On Ice debut on Sunday night, but it didn’t go without a slight mishap.
Soap star Joe, 18, took to the ice with his professional partner Vanessa Bauer to skate to The Jonas Brothers’ track Sucker For You.
Despite looking confident and kicking things off without a hitch, poor Joe was forced to pick himself up as he fell to the ice mid-way through his routine.
Naturally, it didn’t go unnoticed by viewers (or the judges), but Joe was praised for bouncing back in such a strong manner and carrying on with the routine – all with a smile still on his face.
Fans flocked to Twitter to praise the teen for not letting the trip get to him, with one viewer commenting: ‘Great start. And well done for getting straight back up! @JoeWarrenPlant @TheVanessaBauer #DancingOnIce.’
Another posted: ‘Aww bless him, he got up and carried on,’ while one more tweeted: ‘Impressed with Joe-Warren! Such a shame about the fall but it didn’t take away from his brilliant performance.’
‘Joe-Warren- bar the fall, it was one of the best Week 1 Routines I’ve seen on the show,’ shared another.
‘Ah he coped with that fall so well! Good for him. He was brilliant. #DancingOnIce,’ said one viewer, as another commended Joe: ‘@JoeWarrenPlant & @TheVanessaBauer brilliant partnership! Such a shame about the fall but he didnt let it affect his performance. Got high hopes already for these 2!’
Joe won himself a total of 25 points, with Jane Torvill and Ashley Banjo revealing they deducted a point from their score because of the fall.

Jane told Joe: ‘I just loved that performance, I was ready for the seven I had to take a point off. You are very good.’
Christopher Dean added: ‘He was smiling when he fell down, he was still smiling when he got up, you gave a performance, although you fell down… you look comfortable on the ice. you’re going to go a long way.’
Asked what had happened out on the ice, Joe told host Holly Willoughby: ‘To be honest, I couldn’t tell you. I literally thought I was doing everything perfectly and I just ended up on the floor, I don’t know what happened.’
Vanessa joked: ‘It was his first fall of the day, he usually has to fall at least 20 times a day.’
Other stars that took to the ice on the competition’s opening week were Jason Donovan and Denise Van Outen, after dislocating her shoulder in rehearsals.
Dancing On Ice continues Sunday January 24 at 6pm on ITV.
