Taylor Swift is a big fan of Olivia Rodrigo’s new song, Driver’s License, and it’s safe to say that her revelations sparked a lot of joy for the 17-year-old singer.
The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star stormed the charts on January 8 as she released her first single.
Fans instantly compared the moving heartbreak track with the musical style of Taylor, as well as Lorde, much to Olivia’s delight.
Taking to social media, Olivia shared a snap of the charts with the caption: ‘next to taylor on the us i tunes chart i’m in a puddle of tears ????. (sic)’
Taylor then commented on the post and stated: ‘I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud ??.’
Naturally, Olivia was overwhelmed to get the seal of approval from the superstar and she shared a TikTok video in which she mimed along to audio from Taylor’s winning speech during the 2007 CMAs.
With Taylor’s comment in the background, she cried: ‘I can’t believe this. This is definitely the highlight of my senior year.’
‘Thinking about legally changing my name to “Taylor Swifts baby”‘, she added in a sweet tweet.
Meanwhile, fans have been speculating about the inspiration behind Olivia’s track, with many under the impression it is about her co-star Joshua Bassett.
The two young stars play high school students who got the roles of Gabriella and Troy in their school’s production of High School Musical in the Disney Plus series.
Followers believe something romantic developed between the pair, but now Joshua, 20, is rumored to be in a relationship with Sabrina Carpenter, 21.
Using relationship woes and hidden clues to create good music, no wonder Taylor’s proud.
