Run DMC have introduced a brand new vinyl compilation album, devoted to the late Jam Grasp Jay.
The DJ, whose actual title was Jason “Jay” Mizell, was fatally shot inside a recording studio in Queens, New York Metropolis on October 30, 2002. Mizell’s homicide had remained unsolved for almost twenty years, however two men were charged over his death this year.
The brand new vinyl compilation, a collaboration with 12on12 entitled ’12on12 RUN DMC’, will come out on December 8, and options music that impressed the band and embodies their musical legacy.
Included on the compilation are tracks by Kraftwerk, Stylish and Grandmaster Flash, alongside Aerosmith’s ‘Stroll This Method’, which Run DMC famously coated themselves in 1986.

In a press release shared on Instagram, Mizell’s son TJ wrote: “Upon listening to this information we now have combined feelings; we actually hope that these indictments are a stable step in the direction of justice being served within the homicide of Jay.
“We realise that there are different households on the market who’ve lingering ache who proceed to attend for their very own closure, and we pray that this case provides them hope. Despite all of the tragedies we’ve seen this 12 months alone, we take consolation in our household, our religion and in time’s skill to heal all. We will solely hope that this new brings consciousness to the truth that Black lives do matter.”
