Britney Spears has reportedly made the first steps towards a music comeback, with her team said to have reached out to former collaborators to work on new songs with the star.
The Toxic chart-topper, who last released an album five and a half years ago in September 2016 with Glory, appears to be ready to explore her options after being freed from her controversial conservatorship last year.
An inside source told The Sun: ‘It is very early days and Britney isn’t putting any pressure on herself to release an album right away or anything, but her team are putting feelers out about the prospect of new music.
‘Several people who she feels comfortable working with have been contacted and asked if they would like to work on music with Britney again and everyone seems pretty keen to be involved.
‘She has been through an incredibly tough few years but deep down she does love making music and performing so to have some new music out there could really help her turn over a new leaf.’
Collaborators who have been approached reportedly include Claude Kelly, who worked with the pop icon on her 2008 album Circus, which produced the hits Womanizer and Circus.

He has also worked with Jessie J, Miley Cyrus and Jason Derulo.
Having previously refused to work on new material while under the conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears in 2019, in a bid to see the legal arrangement lifted, the star is now in charge of her career for the first time since 2008.
Britney has sold over 100million records worldwide and achieved six number one singles in the UK with … Baby One More Time, Born To Make You Happy, Oops! I Did It Again, Toxic, Everytime and Scream & Shout with will.i.am.

In December, she said a new song was ‘in the works’ as she shared a video of herself vocalising and told fans: ‘I just realised this today guys … after what my family tried to do to me three years ago … I needed to be my own cheerleader 🤷🏼♀️ !!!! God knows they weren’t …so I just read up on my self and this is what I found.’
She went on to list her achievements, including sales and streaming figures, as well as Grammy wins.
Britney continued: ‘No … I’m not auditioning for anything !!!! I’m reminding myself and the world of who I am !!!! Yes … I will be my own cheerleader 📣 … why ???? I’m here to remind my white “classy” family that I haven’t forgotten what they did to me nor will I ever forget !!!!’ She then added: ‘Pssss new song in the works … I’m gonna let you know what I mean 😉 !!!!!’
