Bow Wow has come under fire for performing at a jam-packed nightclub this weekend despite coronavirus cases increasing across the US.
The 33-year-old rapper, real name Shad Moss, hosted an event at Cle nightclub in Houston, Texas on Friday to celebrate club promoter Larry Morrow’s All Black Birthday Weekend.
Photos and footage from the performance show Bow Wow performing on-stage with a full crowd in front of him with little social distancing and many not wearing face masks.
As critics began slamming the rapper for hosting the event, the rapper reportedly defended himself in now-deleted tweets.
‘Man i been hosting parties all last year. I wore my mask in the club. I cant host with that thing on [sic],’ Bow Wow is said to have tweeted.
In response to one fan, the Let Me Hold You rapper explained that he wore a face mask ‘up until i got on the mic. That simple. Keep hand sanitizer on me at all times’.
He added: ‘Dont want folks thinking i dont care ya know [sic].’
Fans were shocked that such a busy event would take place in the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
Scrubs actor Zach Braff even joined in with the roasting and joked: ‘I thought about it and have decided I’m not willing to die for Bow Wow.’
One other Twitter user reacted: ‘I would NEVER risk my life for Lil Bow Wow….. Also, do we have NO COVID restrictions in H-Town? This club needs to be shut down. There are some awful ways to die, but death by Bow Wow has to be up there. Do better people.’

Another agreed: ‘Imagine risking your life to see bow wow perform.’
‘Going to see Bow Wow in a pandemic, we are stuck in this for a long time. Selfish idiots,’ one critic stated.
So far in Texas, there have been over two million confirmed cases of Covid-19 while more than 32,000 people have died from the disease.
Bow Wow isn’t the only artist to be criticised for hosting gigs during the health crisis.
In December, Trey Songz was slammed for performing to around 500 fans at a nightclub in Ohio.
