Mark Hamill has paid tribute to his Star Wars co-star David Prowse, saying he “was rather more than Darth Vader”.
Prowse, the previous bodybuilder greatest recognized for his function as Darth Vader into the unique Star Wars trilogy, died yesterday (November 28) aged 85, it was announced this morning.
Hamill, who performed Luke Skywalker within the authentic Star Wars trilogy, took to Twitter to pay tribute to his co-star.
“So unhappy to listen to David Prowse has handed,” he wrote. “He was a form man & rather more than Darth Vader.
“Actor-Husband-Father-Member of the Order of the British Empire-3 time British Weightlifting Champion & Security Icon the Inexperienced Cross Code Man. He beloved his followers as a lot as they beloved him.”

Saying the information of Prowse’s dying on Twitter this morning, the actor’s agent Thomas Bowington wrote: “It’s with nice remorse and heart-wrenching disappointment for us and million of followers all over the world, to announce that our consumer DAVE PROWSE M.B.E. has handed away on the age of 85.”
“Although well-known for taking part in many monsters – for myself, and all who knew Dave and labored with him, he was a hero in our lives,” Bowington added. “Could the drive be with him, at all times!”

The actor, who handed away following a brief sickness, donned the swimsuit of Darth Vader in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Again, and Return Of The Jedi. Though the Bristolian was initially set to voice the enduring villain as effectively, famously, his West Nation accent was deemed unsuitable, with James Earl Jones ultimately voicing the function.
Others paying tribute to Prowse included Carl Weathers, who at the moment performs Greef Karga within the Star Wars-spinoff collection The Mandalorian, who mentioned that Prowse’s “stature contributed a lot to Darth Vader’s legend.”
