A Darth Vader figurine has appeared in a single day on the empty Edward Colston plinth in Bristol.
The construction appears to have been positioned there following the demise of actor Dave Prowse, who performed Darth Vader throughout the Star Wars movies and handed away on Sunday (November 29).
Prowse was born in Bristol, with tributes since pouring in on social media remembering the actor.

Mark Hamill payed tribute to Prowse on Twitter, saying the actor “was rather more than Darth Vader”.
“So unhappy to listen to David Prowse has handed,” he wrote. “He was a sort man & rather more than Darth Vader.
“Actor-Husband-Father-Member of the Order of the British Empire-3 time British Weightlifting Champion & Security Icon the Inexperienced Cross Code Man. He cherished his followers as a lot as they cherished him.”

Prowse’s agent Thomas Bowington first introduced the actor’s demise on Twitter, writing: “It’s with nice remorse and heart-wrenching unhappiness for us and million of followers world wide, to announce that our consumer DAVE PROWSE M.B.E. has handed away on the age of 85.”
“Although well-known for taking part in many monsters – for myself, and all who knew Dave and labored with him, he was a hero in our lives,” Bowington added. “Might the power be with him, all the time!”
The Darth Vader actor had contracted Covid-19, and was beforehand residing with Alzheimer’s, Prowse’s daughter Rachel confirmed.
Paying tribute to her father, she mentioned: “He might need regarded fairly scary however as an individual he was a candy, form and beneficiant man. He actually was a mild big. And to us he was our dad.”
