A 73-year-old grandmother who was ventilated with Covid and ‘not expected to survive’ has defied the odds to make a miracle recovery.
Marcia, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has bounded back in incredible fashion after spending three months in hospital on breathing support for a severe Covid infection.
She got critically-ill and doctors thought she wouldn’t survive because of her underlying health conditions.
But Marcia, who has withheld her last name, has started rehab after coming off ventilators that helped keep her alive.
Her granddaughter, Courtney, is a Covid intensive care unit nurse and said her grandmother’s recovery is nothing short of a miracle.
She said: ‘I’ve never seen a patient after they’ve been intubated recover like my grandma’s recovered.
‘It gives me hope. It gives me something to tell my parents.
‘Like, Hey, there is hope. There is life after this, you just have to keep fighting.’
Courtney said that Marcia is now back to being the upbeat woman who’s played a major role in her life, reports WPBF.
Marcia’s journey has inspired people who have met and cared for her in hospital.
‘A couple of the nurses were crying about it’, Courtney added.
She also said that Marcia is planning to visit her favorite grill house when she’s finally released from hospital.

Courtney added: ‘She calls me and goes, ‘What’s going on? I’m ready to get out of here.
‘Then, we’re going to Genghis Grill, because that’s what she wants.’
Since the pandemic began the US has recorded 26.5 million cases of Covid and has registered 450,000 deaths from the virus.
