America is still reeling from shocking events in Washington DC last night after rioters breached security at the US Capitol Building.
Trump supporter and air force veteran Ashli Babbit was killed in the chaotic scenes which sent shockwaves around the world.
She was shot by officers as the mob tried to break through a barricaded door in the Capitol where police were armed on the other side. She was hospitalised and later died.
Two men and a woman also died in the area around the Capitol, but police did not directly link their deaths to the violence.
Washington police chief Robert Contee told reporters: ‘Each of the three appeared to have suffered medical emergencies which resulted in their deaths.’
Police continue their investigations as the FBI says it wants to hear from anyone who knows or has information about any of the rioters who ‘actively instigated violence’.
Some of the pro-Trump mob who breached the Capitol building at around 2.30pm local time have already been identified, but the FBI believes many others may have violated federal law.
The riots kicked off after president Trump appeared at a Save America protest to claim the election had been ‘stolen’ from him.
A number of White House aides have resigned, or are considering doing so, as a result of Trump’s part in inciting the unrest.
