This is the touching moment Joe Biden handed a toy back to the daughter of a killed Capitol cop – after she dropped it during a memorial for her father.
President Biden was filmed retrieving the toy by CBS, midway through a service at the US Capitol building on Tuesday for William ‘Billy’ Evans. He was tragically killed earlier this month when a man drove his car into Evans and another officer stationed near a security checkpoint outside the Capitol.
Lawmakers and President Biden gathered for the memorial service that was led by Nancy Pelosi, who was making a speech when Evans’ daughter accidentally dropped her toy model of the Capitol building on the floor.
Biden, sat across the aisle from her, can be seen getting up out of his chair to retrieve the toy and hand it back to the child.
‘A greater compliment does no one have than the President of the United States looking after your toys’, said house speaker, Pelosi, as the Joe Biden helped comfort the girl.

The service yesterday was held as a mark of respect to officer Evans, who died earlier this month at the Capitol building. Biden delivered a eulogy of Evans in which he said that he understands the family’s pain.
President Biden sadly lost his first wife and one child in a car accident, and his son Beau to brain cancer.
He said: ‘My prayer for all of you is that a day will come when you have that memory and you smile before you bring a tear to your eyes.
‘I promise you it’s going to come. It just takes awhile.
‘Your son, your husband, your brother, your dad was a hero. And he’s part of you.
‘It’s in your blood. My prayer for you is that moment of a smile comes before the tear, quicker, then longer.’
