A hero cop who helped to protect the US Capitol from violent rioters was rewarded with escorting Kamala Harris to her inauguration.
Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman, was seen leading a mob of Trump supporters away from the Senate chamber as they chased after him.
As a reward for his bravery, Goodman, 40, was promoted to Acting Deputy House Sergeant-at-Arms and, as part of his new duties, escorted Vice President Harris to be sworn into office.

The gesture came just two weeks after the violent Capitol riots – which left three dead – where he potentially saved lives by directing rioters away from where members of Congress were being held.
As thanks for his service, Goodman was welcomed to the inaugural ceremony earlier today with a rapturous round of applause.
Video footage of Harris’ arrival at the Capitol for her inauguration shows Goodman trailing her and her husband Douglas Emhoff. He can be seen wearing a light brown overcoat and a blue scarf as he shadows the soon-to-be Vice President.
His involvement at today’s ceremony comes after video from the siege shows Goodman walking up the stairs of the second floor of the Capitol building while trying to fend off MAGA protesters.
He then led rioters in the opposite direction the Senate chamber, where former vice president Mike Pence and other officials were being held.
Goodman’s promotion may be added to as a group of lawmakers seek to award him with the Congressional Gold Medal for his heroic actions.

The bill says: ‘By putting his own life on the line and successfully, single-handedly leading insurrectionists away from the floor of the Senate Chamber, Officer Eugene Goodman performed his duty to protect Congress with distinction, and by his actions, Officer Goodman left an indelible mark on American history’.
Goodman, who is from Washington, served in the US Army between 2002 and 2006 and served in Iraq with the 101st airborne division.
He was awarded a combat infantryman badge during his armed forces service.
