ROYAL baby Archie was never in line to be a prince from birth – despite Meghan’s bombshell claims he was barred amid concerns over the colour of his skin.

But a Royal decree dating back more than a century states only Royal offspring in direct line of succession can be princes or become an HRH – which excludes Archie automatically.
Under the rules laid down by King George V in 1917, only Prince William and Kate’s eldest son Prince George were originally entitled to be a prince.
The Queen stepped in ahead of George’s birth in 2013 to issue a Letters Patent to ensure George’s siblings Charlotte and Louis would have fitting titles as children of the future king.
Under the George V rules, Archie will be entitled to be an HRH or a prince – but not until his grandfather Charles takes the throne.
Prince Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have royal titles because their father is a son of the monarch, experts say.
Meghan also spoke of her “pain” on learning that Archie would not be provided with round-the clock security by Buckingham Palace.
She insisted it did not concern her that her son would be denied a “grand” royal title.
But raising the spectre of racism, she added she was concerned about ‘the idea of our son not being safe, and also the idea of the first member of colour in this family not being titled in the same way that other grandchildren would be.”

Asked by Oprah if the Palace had concerns Archie would be “too brown” Meghan said: “In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, we have in tandem, the conversation of ‘He won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title,’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Meghan spoke of her knowledge of royal rules on titles during the interview.
She told Oprah: “There’s a convention – I forget if it was George V or George VI convention – that when you’re the grandchild of the monarch – so when Harry’s dad becomes king, automatically Archie and our next baby would become prince or princess, or whatever they were going to be.”
Oprah replied: “So, for you, it’s about protection and safety, not so much as what the title means to the world?
Meghan: “That’s a huge piece of it, but, I mean, but…
Oprah: “And that having the title gives you the safety and protection…
Meghan: “Yeah, but also it’s not their right to take it away… Right?
“And so, I think even with that convention I’m talking about, while I was pregnant, they said they want to change the convention for Archie.”

During the couple’s shocking interview with Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex claimed the decision not to give Archie a title went against convention.
Instead, he is simply known as Master Archie after his parents decided not to give him one of the Duke of Sussex’s lesser titles, the Earl of Dumbarton.
This signalled the couple wanted their child to be a “private citizen”.
However, the Duchess of Sussex revealed to Oprah Winfrey in last night’s bombshell CBS interview that she was upset over a lack of title for Archie.
Archie is seventh in line to the throne, behind his dad.
The palace has not yet commented on the explosive allegations.
