A recent study conducted by comparethemarket.com looking at app consumption in the UK revealed details on the perfect publishing times across multiple apps.
People are most likely to use and post on Instagram and Facebook between 4.30-6.30pm, which aligns with when most people finish work.
The study also provided insight into the apps that proved to be the most popular during the pandemic.
While TikTok proved to be the most downloaded app of 2020/21, Facebook remains the most popular, with 68% of Brits checking the app every day, followed by TikTok and Instagram.
Commenting on the research, Holly Cox, head of digital at comparethemarket.com, said: ‘There were many moments throughout lockdown where we had no option but to communicate with our loved ones through our phones, so it comes as no surprise that messaging platforms and social media apps are the most downloaded over the 2020-2021 period.
‘With social media algorithms being a big topic of discussion in the digital world, it’s interesting to see when we are most active and when the optimum time to post on each channel is for engagement, ultimately revealing opportunities to increase views, likes, comments, and shares,’ she added.
Another discovery made in the study included the reveal that Sheffield is the city that uses social media the most across the UK, with 61.5% of the population logging onto their favourite apps at least once a day.
Birmingham and Glasgow followed closely behind, in second and third place.
