Every person over 50 living in the UK will be offered a booster vaccine by Christmas as part of the prime minister’s Covid winter battle plan, it’s reported.
Boris Johnson is set to unveil his blueprint for avoiding another lockdown in a press conference later today.
Over-50s will be offered a top-up Pfizer jab at least six months after they received their second dose, it’s suggested.
The Government is reportedly aiming to vaccinate as many over-50s as possible by Christmas, although jabs will be offered to over-70s first.
It comes as Health Secretary Sajid Javid predicts Brits will get to celebrate the festive season with loved ones after millions were left heartbroken last year.
Children aged 12 to 15 will also start being invited to get their first jab from next week as Britain braces for the colder months.
Mr Johnson, who lost his mother this week, is expected to say compulsory mask-wearing may need to return to protect people from falling ill.
Restoring work-from-home advice is also on the table if cases begin to surge again, it’s understood.

Ministers have shelved plans to enforce vaccine passports for entry into venues with large crowds – but could U-turn on this in the future.
Mr Johnson warned ‘the pandemic is far from over’ as he prepared to announce the scrapping of many ‘unnecessary’ coronavirus powers.
He continued: ‘But thanks to our phenomenal vaccine programme, new treatments and testing we are able to live with the virus without significant restrictions on our freedoms.
‘I will set out a clear plan for the autumn and winter, when the virus has a natural advantage, to protect the gains we have made.’
