Covid passes and recovery certificates could be required for your holidays (Picture: Getty)
Plenty of popular destinations for holidaymakers, including Greece, have dropped all entry requirements meaning travel is returning to a pre-Covid normal.
However, many places might still require a Covid pass or a proof of recovery letter. How can you go about getting these?
How to get a Covid Pass in England
In England, residents can access an NHS Covid Pass. The Covid pass lets you share your coronavirus status records in a secure way and can be used either domestically (until May 12) and internationally.
You can get an NHS COVID Pass:
- digitally through the NHS App or online via NHS.UK
- as a letter sent to you in the post if travelling abroad

From 12 May the domestic NHS Covid Pass will no longer be available, meaning that venues and events will no longer be able to request it as a condition of entry.
However, you might still need the Covid Pass for travel.
A Covid Pass Letter for travel can be used to show others that you’ve had a full course of the COVID-19 vaccine (including a booster vaccination if you’ve had one) when travelling to some countries or territories abroad.
You can apply for your letter online or by phone.
You can ask for a letter by calling:
- 119 if you live in England
- +44 151 905 0119 if you’re abroad (you’ll be charged according to your carrier’s rates)
How to get a Covid certificate in Wales
In Wales, the NHS Covid Pass lets you securely share your:
- vaccination records
- test results
To apply for your pass online you must:
- be aged 12 or over
- be registered with a GP in Wales or England
You will also need to upload a photo of either your passport, full UK driving licence, or full European driving licence.
Getting your Covid status certificate in Scotland
For Scottish citizens, your Covid Status (or Covid passport) contains details of your vaccination and test results. For international travel, you can use this to prove your vaccination status, and, if unvaccinated, some countries may accept proof of recovery from coronavirus by showing the results of a PCR test.
The simplest way to get hold of your Scottish Covid passport is using the app.
You can also download or request a paper copy online or by phoning the Helpline on 0808 196 8565. The helpline is open every day from 10am to 6pm.
If you’re under 16, you should request a copy by phoning the helpline and should not use the app.
