Today is Kate Middleton’s birthday, but with the nation under lockdown, she won’t be able to see her extended family.
Usually, the family come together for the special occasion, but current lockdown rules makes that impossible.
So, what age is the Duchess of Cambridge and what are her birthday plans?
How old is Kate Middleton?
Kate was born on January 9, 1982, making her 39 years old.
She is approximately six months older than her husband, Prince William, who was born on 21 June 1982.
This morning, Kate thanked the public for their birthday messages, sharing a photograph online of her waving while wearing a mask.
In a message on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s social media channels, it read: ‘Thank you for your kind wishes on The Duchess’ birthday.
‘Birthdays have been very different in recent months, and our thoughts continue to be with all those working on the front line at this hugely challenging time.’
The Royal Family Twitter account shared a message from the Queen, writing: ‘Wishing The Duchess of Cambridge a very happy birthday today!’
The message was complete with a cake emoji, and the hashtag ‘#HappyBirthdayHRH’.
The account shared a snap of Kate laughing, along with another shot of the duchess chatting with the Queen at the Chelsea Flower show in 2019.
Prince Charles and Camilla also posted a message to Kate online, writing: ‘Happy Birthday to The Duchess of Cambridge!’ with a confetti emoji.
How will Kate Middleton celebrate her birthday in lockdown?
‘Catherine isn’t one for lots of fuss or big parties—being with William and the children is her favourite way of spending her birthday’, an insider told Vanity Fair.
Instead, she is believed to be enjoying a quiet day with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.
Anmer Hall is the Cambridge’s country home, and they have been living there during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last year, she and William invited some of their closest friends over for a soirée at Anmer Hall.
Guests included Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as David and Rose, Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley.
Other attendees included close friends James Meade and his wife Laura as well as Tom van Straubenzee and his fiance – also a teacher at George and Charlotte’s school – Lucy Lanigan O’Keeffe.
Kate wore a blue fedora hat and mauve jacket to celebrate the day.
