A YOUNG grandmother gave birth to her son just months before her teenage daughter had her first child.
Clare Milner, 34, from Newport, Shropshire, welcomed her one-year-old son, Hunter, last year, and within 12 months her eldest child, Elisse, who’s 18, became pregnant with her son, Lucas.

According to the mother and daughter duo, the two are always confused as sisters by strangers when they are out and about, despite Clare actually being a grandmother as well as bringing up her youngest son too.
Clare added: ”I’ve received funny comments all my life since being a young mum, as I had Elisse when I was 16.”
Although she was shocked to learn her teenage daughter’s expecting a baby, Clare revealed that “becoming a mum again at a similar time to my daughter has brought us close together than we have ever been before.”
Clare shared she became pregnant with Hunter after a short relationship with his father, whose behaviour changed when it was discovered the couple was expecting a baby.
”I decided to leave the relationship and go it alone, for my own sake and the children’s sake.
”I have three elder children, Elisse, 18, Makenzie, 16 and Macauley, 13.”
Given there is an 11 year age gap between Hunter and Macauley, Clare was worried that Hunter wouldn’t have anyone to grow up and play with.
”Shortly after I had Hunter, Elisse told me she was pregnant.
”As I had been a teenage mum myself, I felt like I could really support Elisse and help her navigate her way through this,” she said.
”I think she is definitely more appreciative of me now that she has a baby of her own.”
Clare claimed that she’d always hear people commenting she was too young to be a mum when she gave birth to Elisse – and now everyone says she’s too young to be a grandmother.
”If Elisse and I are out together with Hunter and Lucas, they assume we are sisters rather than mother and daughter.
”Or people assume that both of the boys are my kids when in fact, one is my son and the other is my grandson.”
”People are always questioning why I wanted to start again and have another baby with an 11 year age gap with my other grown-up kids.
‘But it is great fun having a son and a grandson so close in age.
”They will have a lovely bond and be able to grow up together.
”I think they’ll have more of a brotherly bond which I am excited to watch develop as they get older.”
Clare told: “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
