EVERYONE has different rules for how they parent their children and that’s fine, but one woman has divided the Internet after she revealed the unique rule she has in her home.
Lynn, self-proclaimed ‘world’s okayest mum’ took to TikTok to reveal the rule she sticks by when it comes to raising her son.

She shared the video responding to the question “What’s one rule you have as a parent that most parents don’t have?”.
She said: “Don’t worry I already have the stakes I’m going to be burnt on for this one.
“Homework was always optional in my house.
“School to a kid is their ‘full-time job’ and they’re kids and are learning and growing and developing.
“The last thing I want to teach my developing child is that he has to bring work home with him and work and have two hours of play a night.
“Are there consequences to not doing your homework? Yeah.
“Do I care if my son was a C student? Nope.
“Do I care that he knows how to set boundaries with people and things that demand his attention and balance his life and a alcne the fun and the work? Yeah.”
TikTok users were left divided over Lynn’s stance on homework and took to the comments to share this.
Many TikTok users agreed with Lynn and expressed their views that homework wasn’t necessary and that children deserve a break after a long day at school.
One person said: “I agree with you 100%, especially so young! They spend 6-8 hours in school… Give them a break!”
Another added: “Totally on board with this, they spend all day at school, why in the world does it need to come into their time.”
A third commented: “Agree 100%. Have always thought homework is not necessary.”
However, not everyone agreed with Lynn…
One user commented: “Sounds like you think school and even college is a joke. Why send him? Homework is to let teachers know they understood lessons for the day” to which Lynn said “Lol no. I’m in grad school myself. I love college and school. I just want my kid to be a kid as well as educated.”
Another said: “Homework is for completing assignments not finished in class (teaches them to use time wisely) and for studying for a test. Not for extra busy work!” to which Lynn said “I wish that was always the case!”
A third added: “I’m on the fence about that… There are plenty of jobs that require you to bring work home with you…So homework does teach discipline/responsibility.”
