WHY did scientists take so long to accept that Covid may have escaped from the Wuhan virus lab?
The Sun backed that possibility in April 2020 and we were far from first.

The fact a well-funded lab where Covid originated was experimenting with such a virus was judged a coincidence only cranks like Trump took seriouslyCredit: AFP
Yet the “consensus” then was that it was a theory advanced only by tinfoil-hatted lunatics who refused to accept the apparently unassailable truth of the bat-pangolin-human progression.
Any suggestion Chinese negligence was to blame was rubbished.
Anyone calling it the “Chinese virus” was racist.
Now, everyone from President Biden down is belatedly wondering if they haven’t overlooked the obvious.
Last week Dominic Cummings rightly railed against such “groupthink”.
Because the same complacent science and public health consensus was behind virtually every mistake Britain made in the first six months.
From bigging-up our woeful pandemic preparations to talking down masks, testing and border closures.
Boris Johnson merely acted on that advice.
It is crucial for politicians to challenge the groupthink, which is wrong so often.
Had they done so earlier we might be far nearer to uncovering how this virus was unleashed and preventing a repeat.

CONGRATULATIONS to Carrie and Boris.
And to those few Labour MPs adult enough to wish two newlyweds well without scoring puerile political points.

Keir Starmer hopes they have a happy life “whatever our political differences”.
How sad that he felt forced to signal to the Left that he isn’t a secret Tory.
Extremist Jon Trickett MP decided the wedding was a ruse to “bury bad news”.
Tonia Antoniazzi MP said it was “an emergency marriage plan to deflect from negative press from his former Brex***t confidante”.
She asserted as fact that Boris will be out of office in a year.
He still has huge poll leads, though.
And no wonder, with such clowns on Starmer’s benches.
ETHAN Seaman might seem an unlikely individual to film others covertly for criminal purposes.
He is, after all, only four.

But Henham and Ugley Nursery in Herts reckons you can’t be too careful.
Which means not just confiscating his toy “spy” watch. It means phoning cops and recording a “safeguarding incident”.
We’d like to report a massive loss of marbles.
