But what if we told you there was a way you could get your hair professionally dyed for less than a tenner? You’d probably think it was too good to be true.
However, money-saving expert Holly Smith has revealed how she gets hers done for only £8 – and we’re kicking ourselves for never thinking of it before.
Earlier this week, the mum-of-three – who founded the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group – explained how she makes the most of the prices at a local college which trains up hairdressers.
Posting on her TikTok account, Holly says she was well overdue a root touch-up when she booked her appointment at East Coast college near her home in Norwich.
She said: “This is you sign to get your hair done at your local college. Prices start from only £8!”
After giving her a full-head of highlights, Holly’s student hairdresser Max then washed out the bleach and gave the mum an “amazing” head massage too.
To finish, he popped a toner in to achieve Holly’s gorgeous honey colour and get rid of any yellowy tones.
Chuffed with her wavy blow-dry, Holly added: “I absolutely love my hair!
“And this is how I get hair done on a budget.”
The clip has racked up over 33,000 “likes” and viewers were grateful for the tip.
One replied: “Wow never even knew you could do this!”
After seeing Holly’s video, another added: “OMG I’ve literally just booked in at my local college for my hair done tomorrow!”
