Biden will be addressing the nation at 1pm on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
He will be discussing new coronavirus mask guidelines at the North Lawn of the White House.
On Tuesday, the CDC announced fully vaccinated Americans can go outside without wearing masks, but it is still risky to gather in outdoor groups, the CDC has said.
The updated health advice comes as more than half of all adults in the United States have now received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“The release of these new guidelines is a first step at helping fully vaccinated Americans resume activities they had stopped doing because of the pandemic, while being mindful of the potential risk of transmitting the virus to others,” the CDC said.
Wearing face masks has been considered by experts as one of the most effective ways of controlling virus transmission.
Biden has also repeatedly urged Americans to get vaccinated.
People are considered fully protected two weeks after the second dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and two weeks after the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The remarks come a day before Biden is slated to address Congress.
This speech is not considered a State of the Union address but he will be outlining current issues facing the nation and his administration.
President Biden is today expected to relax the guidance on wearing masks in public when he makes a speech on the pandemic.
Several states insist on masks being worn in public, even in the open air.
Anthony Fauci, the White House’s top medical adviser, told CNN “I think it’s pretty common sense now that outdoor risk is really, really quite low.”
AMAZON GIVES WORKERS SHOTS IN WASHINGTON STATE
Amazon.com Inc. hosted its first clinic on Monday.
The Seattle Times reported company spokesperson Karen Riley Sawyer says a second vaccination clinic is set to open today at a Spokane warehouse.
That will be followed by additional company vaccination opportunities at other facilities across the state.
Critics have claimed the company didn’t take proper safety precautions for its workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
While some staff worked from home, about 1 million warehouse workers globally were required to report to their facilities as workloads soared because of increased demand for online shopping. But some warehouse workers stopped showing up as concerns increased about the coronavirus.
END OF MASKS?
U.S. health officials say fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to wear masks outdoors unless they are in a big crowd of strangers.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the updated guidance today.
Previously the CDC had been advising that people should wear masks outdoors if they are within 6 feet of each other.
The change comes as more than half of U.S. adults have gotten at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, and more than a third have been fully vaccinated.
Unvaccinated people should wear masks at outdoor gatherings that include other unvaccinated people. They also should keep using masks at outdoor restaurants.
