IT’S tough to keep your home smelling nice without overdoing it or looking obvious.
One interior pro shared her favorite strategies, which do the same work as lit candles, oil warmers, or wall plug-ins – but they’re discreet and less likely to overpower the room.

Tanya is a home expert who shares interior hacks and DIY projects to her over 395k followers on TikTok.
In a recent clip, she shared her foolproof strategies for keeping her home smelling fresh all day, every day.
She included three tricks in her video, “secret hacks that will make your bathroom smell amazing all day.”
Her first tactic works best in the bathroom, but you could also use it in the kitchen, or wherever you keep paper towels.
The sneaky trick conceals the air freshener in plain sight.
Simply add a few drops of essential oil to the inside of your toilet paper roll. Tanya put five drops of her favorite scent on the cardboard.
This strategy has the added benefit of keeping the fresh aroma focused where it really matters.
You can also create a DIY version of a store-bought favorite.
Mix baby oil and essential oil in a small jar to make a diffuser.
Add some reeds or bamboo skewers to the jar, letting them extend out into the air, where they’ll fill the room with fragrance.
Tanya specified that while she used baby oil, any carrier oil will suffice when making a reed diffuser.
You can also take advantage of small spaces in your linen baskets or supply drawers.
Simply add a few drops of essential oil to cotton balls and conceal them around the room.
One viewer even shared their own way to level up Tanya’s cotton ball hack.
“Do the cotton ball trick in the trash too,” the commenter wrote.
