THE Coronation Street cast have been left fuming after their Christmas party was cancelled at the last minute amid Covid concerns.
ITV bosses made the decision to pull the bash as fears grow over the spread of the Omicron variant – despite calls from the cobbles’ characters to keep it.

An insider said: “Everyone is gutted the party has been cancelled.
“It’s usually a huge bash with loads of free booze and a chance for the cast to let their hair down after a long year.
“The younger castmates are particularly annoyed because they love getting glammed up.”
Earlier this year it was revealed that a number of stubborn big name stars and backroom staff were refusing to get Covid jabbed, which led to a rise in cases on the soap.
Bosses were left concerned that production would have to halt because at the time the Delta variant was causing issues.
Corrie filming initially stopped at the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and filming didn’t resume until June.

It was again suspended in January 2021 so bosses could rewrite scenes.
Producers decided a two week break was necessary after a manic work schedule for both cast and crew during the coronavirus crisis.
Just last week Boris insisted there was no need to cancel Xmas gatherings, family meet-ups or nativity plays over fears of the new Covid variant.
However as cases have continued to rise, The Sun has revealed that the PM is now poised to announce Plan B restrictions today that will require Brits to work from home and use vaccine passports imminently.
Scientists warn that up to 1,000 Brits each day could now be catching the highly contagious form of the virus — with new cases doubling every three days.
