THEY are smooth and calm under pressure, which may explain why newsreaders have become the nation’s lockdown pin-ups.
Recently one Sun reader wrote to agony aunt Dear Deidre revealing her boyfriend wanted her to role play as BBC newsreader Fiona Bruce. It turns out she is not alone.
Here stars tell their secret newsreader crushes . . . and we reveal the full results of our “Which newsreader do you fancy” poll that saw Piers Morgan top the list for women readers.

FORMER Page 3 model Rhian, 34, has the hots for ITV News at Ten host Tom Bradby. She says:
“My newsreader crush has to be Tom. As if having him in my living room – or sometimes my bedroom – at 10pm most nights wasn’t enough, I also follow his Twitter feed to get updates. Of course he is a handsome chap but he also has a sense of humour and he’s a pleasure to watch.
“Some newsreaders are so serious and a bit stiff, but Tom is definitely not one of those.
“When he is presenting, you can read his expression and really tell what he is thinking, especially when he is being made to read out a ridiculous story. “Anyone that can brighten up doom and gloom is a winner in my eyes. I remember a few years back he went viral for slumping back in his chair after a long stint of covering an election. Another time he got the giggles live on air, which is yet another reason to love him.
“Maybe my crush is bigger than I thought.”

CELEBS Go Dating star and former Corrie actress Kimberly, 33, has fallen for ex-BBC, Channel 5 and ITV news anchor Natasha Kaplinsky’s undoubted charms. She says:
“For me the only person that could deliver terrible news but still manage to keep a smile on my face is Natasha. At the age of 48, she looks wonderful and still so young.
“Not only is she outrageously beautiful, smart and compassionate, she can also perform a mean foxtrot, as her days on Strictly proved.
“She has been a staple queen in my home, morning, noon and night over the years.
“Not only does she have an OBE but she gets the FIT award from me! Her smile lights up any household living room. But when serious, straight talking is needed, she can hold her own and what she says goes.
“She is absolutely stunning but she is also stern and succinct. And that’s the kind of woman for me.”

SO Macho singer Sinitta, 57, chooses BBC’s Clive Myrie as her crush. She says:
“Clive is So Macho for me. He is like Superman, always taking on controversial topics like the Windrush scandal, US politics and UK knife crime.
“He was probably the only newsreader who wanted to attend the US election so he could confront Trump. He is not afraid and I admire his passion.
“Apart from being articulate, brave and intelligent, he also loves jazz, which is my favourite. His voice is as distinguished as Sir Trevor McDonald, who was my first newsreader crush.
“Clive keeps it classy and shows young men there is another way of handling yourself and being masterful.
“I would love to see him on Strictly, he would bring some old-school sophistication – especially if he was partnered with Oti Mabuse, who I sometimes fantasise about being.
“Then I could imagine it was me dancing with him.”

REALITY TV’s Nicola, 39, has a thing for GMB presenter Piers Morgan. She says:
“I tend to get my news from daytime TV rather than news bulletins, and there is nobody else I’d rather have update me on what is going on in the world than Piers.
“I love his attitude and the fact he is full of arrogance. There is just something about a man in a suit who just doesn’t give a damn.
“He probably has all the money in the world but he continues to get up early every morning to basically ask people questions and then not let them answer.
“We wouldn’t be able to work together at all because we would be arguing like cat and dog.
“Although I am a feminist, and on camera it seems like I am the person in charge, I actually need to be put in my place sometimes . . . and I love it when a man can do that.
“I need to be told what to do – and Piers could definitely do the job.”

LOOSE Women panellist and comedian Judi, 40, likes former ITN newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald a lot. She says:
“My love is Sir Trevor. His elegant and smooth voice has always grabbed my attention.
“Not only could he pay the bills, but he could also whisk you off somewhere beautiful and extravagant if there was a problem.
“He could put on that James Bond-like voice and you’d be taken care of. There is just something about his swagger. He is like a suave secret agent.
“He is quite serious, but then every now and then you’ll see that cheeky side to him.
“He articulates himself well and he can bring you sad news with comfort. If he is calm, I am calm.
“I love his smile and that little nod when he says goodnight.
“That confident aura he has is what makes him sexy.”

FORMER Page 3 model Linda, 62, reveals Eamonn Holmes, is the one for her. She says:
“What’s not to love about a certain Northern Irish newsreader, the wonderful Mr Eamonn Holmes, OBE?
“We met in the Eighties when he was in his early twenties.
“He had thick black hair and was full of Gaelic charm.
“Back then, Eamonn was on Ulster TV and I was over in Ireland a lot working, so our paths crossed numerous times. I used to watch him deliver the news with such compassion, empathy and sincerity – and that is really what made me fall for him. He is one hell of a journalist. I know his lovely wife Ruth “Langsford won’t mind me saying he was a crush back then – and he still is now.
“I just wish he was back on our screens delivering the news with his professional, yet cheeky, charm.
“He always makes me chuckle and I am a sucker for his smile. I am his biggest fan.”
